The annual SCORE Baja 500 is known as one of the toughest off-road races in the world. Participants depart from Ensenada, a city located on the Pacific side of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico, and drive roughly 500 miles (about 800 km) through rocky mountainous areas and rugged desert areas. In addition to the advanced skills of the drivers, durable and dependable off-road tires are required to navigate the rough roads and uneven terrain.

The OPEN COUNTRY M/T-R tires supplied by TOYO TIRES are race-tuned versions of the company’s popular OPEN COUNTRY M/T designed for light trucks and SUVs that need off-road capabilities.

We build up valuable technical knowledge and experience participating in such off-road racing, and leverage this experience in the product development of consumer tires. The aggressive yet functional tread design of OPEN COUNTRY M/T tires delivers race-winning performance in tough off-road conditions including excellent traction and braking performance. Moreover, an extremely tough tire construction with exceptional resistance to external damage has been achieved by applying the know-how accumulated through off-road races like the SCORE Baja 500.

In this SCORE Baja 500, TOYO TIRES will provide OPEN COUNTRY M/T-R tires to Robby Gordon and BJ Baldwin, both longtime Toyo-sponsored drivers, as well as 2017 SCORE Baja 500 Overall Winner Andy McMillin. McMillin joined Team Toyo in 2016.

We are committed to continuing to improve the performance of their tires globally, and putting forward excellent performance, through the support of off-road racing in the future.
